IBA Launches Statewide Banking Apprenticeship Programs for Member Banks

The Idaho Bankers Association has launched new Registered Apprenticeship programs to help member banks develop talent, strengthen career pathways, and support Idaho’s growing workforce needs.

IBA will serve as the group sponsor for this statewide initiative, giving member banks access to apprenticeship programs designed specifically for careers in banking. The initial programs include Junior Lender and Universal Banker.

The Junior Lender Apprenticeship blends analyst and lending proficiencies, helping participants build practical skills in credit, financial analysis, relationship management, and the lending process.

The Universal Banker Apprenticeship prepares participants for a well-rounded career in banking, with training designed to build foundational knowledge across customer service, operations, products, compliance awareness, and career readiness. The program also creates a pathway for growth into other areas of banking.

The launch comes as Governor Brad Little announced a new statewide goal to double Idaho’s Registered Apprenticeships by the end of 2029, increasing the number of active apprenticeships from 4,000 to 8,000. The announcement reflects Idaho’s continued focus on workforce-driven training, career pathways, and practical opportunities for Idahoans to earn while they learn.

IBA’s apprenticeship programs give member banks a timely opportunity to participate in this statewide workforce effort while building a stronger talent pipeline for Idaho’s banking industry.
