A top priority of the IBA is Governmental Affairs, and it’s the Government Affairs Committee that directs the IBA’s legislative agenda at both the state and federal level. Committee members bring diverse expertise to the table which allows for a full discussion of the issues prior to a position being taken. This Committee also relies on other IBA committees for their expertise in legislative matters specific to a particular area such as Agriculture, Compliance or Trust. Most federal legislative activity is coordinated in partnership with the American Bankers Association (ABA) and Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA).
The committee meets annually in November and holds every other week conference calls throughout the Idaho Legislative Session. Chaired by the IBA Board of Directors Vice Chair, with 100% member bank representation the IBA Government Affairs Committee is the primary committee for the association.
